Local Veteran appreciates Wautoma Area School District patriotism

Subhead

Dear Editor,

We are indeed blessed to live in an area with a school district as thoughtful and Patriotic as the Wautoma Area School District, especially on Veteran’s Day.

Speaking as an aging Veteran who attended three different ceremonies on Nov. 11, I can only say that I am so impressed by the effort put forth by our area schools.

I attended a ceremony in the morning at Riverview Elementary, followed by a different program at Parkside School (including lunch for Veterans), followed by yet another program at Wautoma High School. (I could have attended a Veteran’s Breakfast and program at Redgranite Elementary as well.)

I attended these programs, today, out of what I felt was an “obligation”. Veterans being recognized by such an effort as this, need to support that effort.

To say that these “ceremonies” on Nov. 11 were a tribute to Veterans is an understatement.

The “effort” put forth by all the participants was awesome and indeed “moving”.

I cannot begin to name all those involved in today’s events. I can only express my gratitude. To the administration, teachers, staff/support members and students. To the Cub Scouts, all levels of band members and chorus members that entertained us in tribute. To the Honor Guard and members of American Legion Post 317.

And, to the several “special guest speakers” thank you. This day will be remembered for a long time. You all contribute in ways that make this Community proud.

Sincerely,

/s/ Roger Charette,

honored US Veteran
