The election on April 2 brought the end of an era to the Patterson Memorial Library Board of Trustees. Everett Eckstein, who had served on the Waushara County Board of Directors and had been appointed to the Patterson Memorial Library Board in 1992, retired after 32 years of service to the County and the Board.
“Everett has been here through thick and thin, a true supporter of the library and the freedom it represents,” exclaimed Kent Barnard, Library Director, continuing “Everett is one of the rare individuals who gives freely of himself to serve the people. This is what a real patriot looks like.”
Eckstein’s replacement will be appointed to the Library Board at the next County Board meeting. “I hope we get a person as dedicated as Ev was to the Library Board. Ev is a reader and library user, he knows the importance our libraries play in our communities -not just for books, but as safe places for everyone,” Barnard observed.
Library Board meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m., except on holidays, in the Patterson Memorial Library Jerry Apps Reading Room. All are welcome to attend. The Patterson Memorial Library is located at 500 Division St., in Wild Rose, just one block east of Main St. (Hwy 22).
