Girl Scout Troop completes a successful cookie season

Subhead

Five young Kindergarteners in their first year of Girl Scouts, have finished their first cookie selling season. Aurora Connelly, Azalea Huser, Bethany Boettcher, Brooklynn Kasubaski, and Lila Soenen spent approximately 12 weeks hard at work taking orders, sorting, and distributing cookies to customers. The troop also held four booths throughout the season, at both Stone Ridge and Pick ‘n Save in Wautoma.

As this was their first year in Girl Scouts and selling cookies, they set an initial goal of 1,200 boxes to sell. The girls hit this goal in less than two weeks. By the end of the season, the girls had sold over 2,500 boxes of cookies. During the season, the girls learned important skills such as: identifying and learning about the different flavors of cookies, establishing goals and what to do with their earned troop funds, how to collect money and count back change, and important customer service talking points.

The girls plan on using troop funds to purchase meeting supplies and badges, field trips and family outings, and for their “Take Action” project later this month, where they will be purchasing supplies for the Waushara County Animal Shelter.
