All wheels invited to Redgranite AMVETS 10th Anniversary Ride

So far $44,000 raised for local veterans

Redgranite AMVETS is gearing up for their 10th Anniversary Ride on Saturday, Aug. 23. This is the AMVET Riders’ biggest event of the year, all in support of our local veterans. What started as an initial $2,200 donation ten years ago has grown into $44,000 raised for Waushara County Veteran Services, which is then used to assist with home repairs, emergency health expenses, and other resources to assist them through life.
The ride is not limited to just motorcycles, but it is open to two, three, and four-wheel vehicles. Riders will leave from the Redgranite Lions Hall and head to four locations: Murph’s Corner of Neshkoro, Johann’s of Richford, Sawdust City of Weyauwega, Jorgie’s of Berlin, and return to the Redgranite Lions Hall.
Larry Redman Jr., 2nd Vice AMVET Rider, shared that last year, 80 bikes participated in the ride, and he hopes that number will continue to increase.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Redgranite Lions Club. Riders will then leave from the hall at 11 a.m.
Once returning, a dinner will be held at the Lions Hall, which is open to the public. The meal is included with your ride ticket, or for a $10 donation for non-riders. There you will also find various raffles, the “pick-a-pig” 50/50 style raffle, and door prizes.

New this year will be a live auction, also open to the public. Find one-of-a-kind pieces such as a chainsaw-carved eagle, a custom fishing rod worth $400, a hand-stitched quilt by Cheryl Borgans, and more!
Redman is also excited to share that the AMVETS can now take card payments at the Lions Hall. All proceeds from this event are presented to the Waushara County Veteran Services office.
Rider or not, you do not want to miss out on this milestone year of the Redgranite AMVET Riders.
Redgranite AMVETS is eager to continue serving its community and local veterans in need. AMVETS membership is open to anyone currently serving, or who has honorably served, in the U.S. Armed Forces from WWII to the present, including National Guard and Reserves. Last year, the group introduced a new squad, “Sons of the AMVETS,” which has grown to 16 members.
