Of Spring Lake, rural Neshkoro, formerly of Antigo and West Allis passed away on Thursday August 6, 2026 at age 94 years.
He was born on September 10, 1931 in Antigo, a son of Frank and Irma (Pantzlaff) Schumitsch. He married Mary Ann Servi at St. John’s Catholic church in Antigo on July 19, 1958. She preceded Art in death January 30, 2020.
Art is survived by sons James and Jerry (Diane), and 3 daughters Jan (Bob) Blum, Jane Mortazavi, and Jean Sobeski. and a daughter-in-law, Joan, and a sister Louise Korth. 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Joseph and son in law Steven Sobeski, as well as brothers Ellsworth, Gilbert, Donald, and Robert Schumitsch, and sisters Patricia McCary and Dory Younger.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army from September 17, 1952 to September 16, 1954. He then worked for many years as a drywall finisher.
Arthur enjoyed sports (especially the Green Bay Packers), fishing, bowling, and gardening. He was a member of the Neshkoro Lion’s Club, and volunteered for various medical transports. He was an active, faithful member of St James Catholic Church in Neshkoro for many years.
The funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 28th. at 11:00A.M at St James Place (just north of St. James Church) Hwy 73 in Neshkoro. Friends may call at St. James Place from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday only prior to the Mass. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
