Brett Todd Standke, age 40, of Redgranite, died unexpectedly at home, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
He was born January 21, 1986, in Berlin, WI, the son of Barry Mastricola and Gina Smukowski. Brett received his GED from Fox Valley Technical College.
Brett was an auto mechanic by trade, who loved to find old cars and restore them. He was an intelligent and deeply loving person, often thought of as a "Jack of all Trades." There was nothing he couldn't do. He enjoyed helping friends and family whenever he could. Brett took pride in sharing his knowledge and abilities. He also enjoyed snowmobiling. When he was younger, Brett would DJ at local bars and celebrations, such as birthdays or weddings. He enjoyed music and having fun with friends. He was surrounded by countless friends whom he cared for deeply and valued greatly. He was a very caring person who wore his heart on his sleeve. Brett shared a deep love with his partner, Ashley Samp. Their bond was meaningful to both of them. He held a deep love and appreciation for his mother, Gina Smukowski, and her partner, Nicholas Switalski. He especially loved his children, son, Jace Mastricola, and daughter, Ellie Smukowski. They were the brightest lights of his life, whom he loved completely. His biggest wish in life was to have a happy family.
Family was his greatest joy above all. He will be remembered for the love he gave and the lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother, Gina Smukowski (Nicholas Switalski); father, Barry (Karen) Mastricola; children, Jace Mastricola and Ellie Smukowski; grandparents, Marion (Vern) Parker; partner, Ashley Samp; special father, Todd Standke; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alan Smukowski; grandmother, Sharon Smukowski; grandfather, Tony Mastricola; great-grandparents, Harriet and Duane Meddaugh; and special grandmother, Carol Standke.
A Celebration of Brett’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Mastricola’s on Broadway in Berlin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
