Cheryl Ann Brooks (Warner) age 76 of Wild Rose (Rosholt), WI died at ThedaCare Medical Center - Wild Rose while surrounded by her family.
Cheryl was born May, 24th 1950 to the late Robert and Norma Warner in Stevens Point and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1968. She married the late Jack Brooks on September 21, 1968 at Plover United Methodist Church. Cheryl lived with her in-laws the late Robert and Maurita Brooks while Jack served in Vietnam. At this time, she began to work at Sentry Insurance. Cheryl then joined Jack in Topeka, Kansas at the end of his military service. There she gave birth to the couple's only child Brett Robert Brooks. Following Jack’s honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, the family returned to the area eventually settling in Rosholt, WI. Cheryl returned to work at Sentry Insurance where she retired in 2005.
Between Jack’s softball games, Brett’s sports events, and pretending to enjoy camping and the outdoors with both of them, she found time to enjoy quilting, sewing, and crafting. When the chaos started to slow, she opened a shop with friends called Calico Cousins. Later, Cheryl was best known for spoiling her granddaughters, Emma and Savannah, and running the concession stand at Brooks Field in the Rosholt Fair Park. In 2013, Cheryl was recognized as the “Woman of the Year” by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association.
Upon Jack’s death in 2022 and a developing dementia condition, Cheryl moved to Wild Rose with her son and daughter-in-law, Becky. There she found joy living out her last few years doing word searches, watching CSI with her dogs Buddy and Shorty, bingo at the Lions, rides with Brett, Culver’s mint shakes, and Friday shrimp dinners at the Red Fox.
Cheryl will be remembered as a good friend, devoted mother, grandmother, loving and supportive wife. Cheryl is preceded in death by her brother Wesly Warner and brother-in-law Glen Kniprath. Survivors not mentioned above include her sister Patti (Bernie) Klasinski, brother-in-law Bob (Judy) Brooks, sisters-in-law Deb Kniprath and Becky (Dan) Schiedler, grandson-in-law Treyten (Emma Brooks) Chiglo, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
We would like to thank Drs. Caves, Voskuil, nurses and staff at ThedaCare Medical Center - Wild Rose for their care in Cheryl's final days. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday July, 11th 2026 from 11am - 2pm at Springville Sports Barn.
