Diane Ruth Ruhland, age 78 of Wautoma passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Thedacare Hospital, Wild Rose. She was born on April 17, 1948 in Fond du Lac to Clarence L. and Ruth M. (Bauer) Ruhland.
Diane graduated from Mayville High School in 1966 and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Marian College. She subsequently earned a master’s degree in guidance counseling from UW-Oshkosh. Diane was a teacher and guidance counselor at Wautoma High School for 34 years.
Diane was one of the first women’s coaches in the state and led her teams to conference championships in basketball and softball. She was very active in her church and an active participant in many community organizations and activities.
Diane was a beloved friend to many. Her greatest joy was spending time with her great nieces and great nephew.
Diane is survived by her sister: Lois (Todd) Zangl; nephews: Nick Ruhland, Ryan (Nikki) Ruhland, Brian (Tya) Zangl; great nieces: Natalie, Hannah, Grace, Olivia, and Chase; great nephew: Isaac; sister-in-law: Marty Ruhland; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Norm Ruhland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wautoma. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at church from 10AM to 11:45AM. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Andrew Cemetery in LeRoy, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Diane's name to the Waushara County Back to School Bash.
