Animal Science Fundamentals – Course #10006140-3 (New!)
Thursdays, Aug. 28 – Dec. 18 – 4 to 8 p.m.
Provides fundamental knowledge of the animal science field. Topics include animal health, animal environments, anatomy and physiology, genetics and reproduction, animal feedstuffs, and job-related safety. Students will experience animal concepts through the completion of hands-on activities.


Beginning Beekeeping – Course #60006001-1
Saturday, Aug. 30 – 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In this beginning beekeeping class, learners will explore honeybee biology, beekeeping equipment and tools, colony management throughout the year, including overwintering, pest control and honey harvesting and extraction. This class is well-suited for those who are interested in starting to raise bees or those in their first couple years of beekeeping.


Written Communication – Course #10801195-26
Tuesdays, Aug. 26 – Dec. 16, 5 to 8 p.m.
Develops writing skills which include prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. A variety of writing assignments are designed to help the learner analyze audience and purpose, research and organize ideas, and format and design documents based on subject matter and content. Also develops critical reading and thinking skills through the analysis of a variety of written documents.


Welding/Metal Fab Intro & Safety – Course #10621105-8

Mondays & Tuesdays, Aug. 25 – Sept. 29, 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Provides instruction in welding and metal fabrication safety. Students will identify environmental work and personnel hazards common with the industry and proper personal protection methods. Students will also perform common tasks essential to utilization of the welding and metal fabrication lab.


GMAW Techniques 1 – Course #10442123-9
Wednesdays & Thursdays, Aug. 27 – Nov. 26, 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Demonstrates welding on steel sheet metals and plates. Emphasis is placed on axial spray, pulse spray and short circuit mode of transfer. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to weld in all positions, read basic weld symbols, and have an understanding of written welding procedures.

Mondays & Tuesdays, Oct. 6 – Nov. 4, 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Teaches students to interpret detailed weld symbols using the American Welding Society standard.


Weld Print Reading – Course #10621108-6
Mondays & Tuesdays, Nov. 10 – Dec. 9, 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Provides instruction in reading shop drawings. Topics include orthographic projection, auxiliary views, revolved sections, surface and centerline relationships, isometric drawings, scale drawings and tolerances.


FCAW Techniques – Course #10442125-4 (New!)
Tuesdays, Aug. 26 – Dec. 16, 4 to 8 p.m.
A study and operation of primarily flux cored arc welding. The student will learn about the different types of electrodes, fluxes and shielding gases used in these processes. Students will be able to weld in all positions, read some basic weld symbols, and have a basic understanding of written welding procedures.

Emergency Med Resp and Emergency Med Tech – Part 2**

Tuesdays & Thursdays, Sept. 2 – Dec. 9, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Now being offered at the Wautoma Regional Center location! This is part two of a two-part course that provides education as an emergency medical responder and emergency medical technician. Completion of both part one and two provides eligibility to sit for the certification exam for emergency medical technician.
**This course has a pre-requisite and cannot be found on “Take a Class” as it is not available to the public without completion of part one of the course. First Aid Seminar
Course #47531450-8 Tuesday, Oct. 7, 5 to 8 p.m.
Presents and evaluates basic first aid skills necessary to care for the ill and injured until medical help arrives. This course is designed for the layperson. Students receive an American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid card with two-year certification.


CPR – Heartsaver AED and First Aid
Course #47531483-2 Tuesday, Oct. 7, 5 to 10 p.m.
Teaches and evaluates CPR/AED, rescue breathing, relief of choking and basic first aid for an adult until an ambulance arrives. Students receive an American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver CPR/First Aid e-Card with two-year certification.


AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider & Update CPR

Course #47531401-7 Tuesday, Nov. 18, 5 to 9:30 p.m.
Teaches and evaluates two-rescuer CPR, one-rescuer CPR, obstructed airway technique for the adult/child/infant, adult/child Automated External Defibrillator (AED), pocket mask, and Bag Valve mask. Students receive an American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare CPR card with two-year certification.


Home Alone Babysitting Safety – Course #42531487-3
Saturday, Sept. 20, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Teaches the babysitter how to deal with crying, tantrums, bedtime issues, providing a safe environment, and first aid emergencies. Infant/child CPR and choking relief are also taught. Students receive a certificate of completion.


Quilting Techniques – Course #60301613C-1
Mondays, Sept. 8 & 15, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Focuses on basic techniques for designing and creating quilts for wall hangings, bed coverings, clothing or home decorating. Students will learn how to read quilt patterns, measure, piece, and machine sew a quilt. Specific techniques for enhancing the quality of quilting are included.


Seed Saving Basics – Course #60001617 (New!)
Tuesday, Sept. 9, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Learn the basics of saving true breeding seeds from various vegetables and flowers. Students will leave the class with an understanding of true breeding plant varieties, the basic skills it takes to save seeds, and the benefits of incorporating seed saving in their annual gardening practices.


Pressure Canning – Course #60301613C-1
Tuesday, Oct. 14, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Preserve your harvest! Pressure canning is a safe and economical way to preserve low-acid foods to savor all year long. In this course, students will learn the benefits of preserving meats and vegetables as well as how to control the quality of food storage. Students observe a pressure canning demonstration and sample canned meats, vegetables and soups.
