First Annual Coloma Crafts DeStash draws creators to the Community Center

Posted

The Coloma Community Center buzzed with excitement this weekend as the Coloma Library hosted its first Coloma Crafts DeStash, a new event designed to bring crafters together to trade, sell, and discover supplies of every imaginable kind. Tables overflowed with craft machines, fabric bundles, paper goods, tools, and thousands of crafting items, transforming the center into a temporary marketplace of creativity.
Deb Sadowski, Coloma Librarian, said the idea grew from a simple truth familiar to most makers: crafters accumulate a lot of supplies. The DeStash offered a chance for crafters and artists to clear out closets, repurpose unused materials, and help others discover items they might not otherwise find locally. Many attendees arrived with boxes of gently used tools or unopened kits, hoping to pass them along to someone who could put them to good use.
Several attendees said they hoped the event would become a yearly tradition — and organizers confirmed they plan to make the DeStash an annual fixture on the Coloma calendar. By the end of the day, many tables were noticeably lighter, and visitors left with armfuls of new supplies and inspiration. The Coloma Crafts DeStash proved that one person’s extra materials can become another person’s next great project, all while strengthening the bonds of the Waushara community.
