Hancock Lions Fisheree brings together fishing enthusiasts

Posted

The Hancock Lions Fisheree was a fantastic event that brought together fishing enthusiasts from all over the region. Participants competed in various categories, showcasing their skills and passion for the sport.
The Northern category saw Kenley Addis securing first place, followed by Andy Wojtanowski in second.
In the Bass category, Jay Luce emerged victorious, with a tie for second place between Ray Kramer and Ryan Jaggar.
Jake Addis took the top spot for Walleye, while Cameron Kemnetz and Nate Ruiz claimed first and second place, respectively, in the Blue Gill category.
The Crappie category was dominated by Nick Ruiz, who secured both first and second place, with Ty Scott coming in third.

Adidyn Kopchinski showcased in the Perch category, sweeping all three top positions. The event also recognized the smallest catch, with Kyle Wiza earning this unique distinction.
The Hancock WI Lions Fisheree not only celebrated the winners but also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among all participants.
The winner of the cash prize for a tagged fish went to Rodney Wendt from Amherst Junction. “Two fish each year are caught the week before the Fisheree by a member of the community and previous Lion’s Club member that has been doing this competition service for years,” according to Lions President Kevin Flyte.
Overall, the Hancock WI Lions Fisheree was a resounding success. Funds raised will be used to provide prizes for their upcoming Hancock Easter Egg Hunt at the Community Center on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. The Lions Club’s efforts in organizing this event were commendable, and participants are undoubtedly looking forward to next year’s competition.
