James “Jim” King Sr., age 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, passed away on July 7, 2025, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.

As per Jims request, no services will be held.

Jim was born on December 13, 1942, to Ivan and Harriet (Schultz) King in Wisconsin Rapids.

This year he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage with his wife, Rita.

Jim lived a life rooted in the outdoors and hard work. Hunting and fishing weren’t just hobbies, they were a way of life. The outdoors was his sanctuary.

When he wasn’t in the woods or on the water, he could often be found on the golf course, behind the wheel of his beloved John Deere mowing the lawn, or at the trap range defending his Champion Trap Shooter title.

He worked as a pipe fitter at Consolidated Paper for 43 years, a job he truly loved and took pride in.

Jim also served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who shared a hunting blind, fishing boat, golf game, or work shift with him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Carrie (Karl) Lang; grandson, Easton King; little brother, Jeremey Theis; sister, Barbara (Doug) Kasten; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Paul Ostrander; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, James “Sonny” King Jr.; parents, Ivan and Harriet; and mother and father-in-law, Clarence and June Abbott; The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Riverview Hospital for their loving care and hard work.
