Jean Marie Knudtson (nee Bertzyk), age 73 of Mount Morris, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, June 28, 2025 at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega surrounded by the love of her family. She had been in failing health for the past 3 years.

Jean was born March 6, 1952 in Berlin, a daughter of Richard and Carole Muzzy Bertzyk. She was raised in Wautoma, and was a 1970 Graduate of the Wautoma High School. Jean married Harvey Knudtson April 9, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wautoma. Harvey, her husband of 53 years survives.

Jean drove a school bus for the Wautoma School District for 35 years. During that time she was President of the former school bus driver’s union. She also operated a horse ranch in the 1980’s until early 2000, Jean also was a member of the Badger Horse Show Association, and took part in many horse competitions and horse races.

Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing macrame, painting, and her flower garden. Jean loved her feline friends, being in a pool league, and fishing. She had an infectious, distinctive laugh. She loved her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her husband, Harvey, 2 sons, John (Marie) Knudtson of Chisago, Minnesota, and Brian Knudtson of California; 3 brothers, Tim (Tammy) Fritzel of Tampa, Florida, Richard Bertzyk of Wautoma, J. C. (Tammy) Hardy of Alliant, Nebraska, and Joseph Bertzyk; 3 sisters, Judy (Mike) Nigbor of Wautoma, Nancy (John) Key of Orlando, Florida, and Lisa Bertzyk; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; a special nephew and niece, Mike and Suzette Knudtson of Waupaca, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and her step-mother, Rita Bertzyk.

Memorial Services for Jean will be held Friday, July 11th. at 7:00 P.M. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite. (Please note the date.) Deacon Jim Hogemeier of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma will officiate.

Visitation: Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 11th. prior to the Memorial Services at the funeral home.

Memorials in Jean’s memory will be appreciated in place of flowers.
