We are sad to announce that on July 27, 2025, Jeanette Marion “Nan” Carlson, of Pine River, passed away peacefully, just a few short days after celebrating her 93rd birthday.

Jeanette was a fierce and stubborn woman who didn’t enjoy being cared for; instead, she’d rather care for and help anyone that she could. She loved unconditionally and had the ability to overlook the biggest of flaws to see the true character in people. A product of the Great Depression, she found joy and contentment in the simple things in life: tending to her flower beds, baking, being a mother to her two daughters, Glenda and Debbie, and a wife to Glen. Her greatest loves of all, though, and whom she lived her life for, were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her true happiness and greatest accomplishments came in the form of shaping the lives and successes of Shane, Christopher, and Christa. Jeanette had an unwavering devotion to her grandchildren, and they are forever grateful for her mentorship, the longevity of her life, and her presence within their lives. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know “Nan” was forever better because of it, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Shane (Sarah) Nigbor, Christopher (Liz Barthel) Rogers and Christa (Peter) Brennan; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Dawson, Lincoln, Carolina, Westin, Micah, Ellie, and Luca; sister, Marilyn "Joni" Bahr; nephews, Roger (Sheri) Bahr and Paul Bahr; close friends, Randy (Lori) Reise, Sandra Satterfield; and all her wonderful neighbors. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; daughters, Debra Rogers and Glenda (Eugene) Nigbor; great-grandchild, Asher Brennan; parents, Norman and Mildred Waite Rogers; brother, Clifford (Iris) Rogers; father- and mother-in-law, Arnold and Elnora Slater Carlson; brothers-in-law, Arnold "Norman" Carlson, Leroy "Bud" Carlson, Dale Carlson, Gary Carlson and Eugene Bahr; and nieces, Medina Bahr and Sara Bahr Mayr.

Private family services will be held. Inurnment will be in Pine River Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. The family wishes to thank all of the friends and family, the staff at Juliet Manor, and the hospice caregivers for their compassionate care.
