John Thomas Chamberlin, age 82 of rural Berlin, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 11, 2026 at his home in the Town of Warren. John was born in Berlin Nov. 1, 1943, one of 12 children of Richard and Hilda (Novak) Chamberlin.
The family moved to the farm in the Burr Oak Valley, where John lived and went to school. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served in the Mediterranean following his schooling as a radioman in Norfolk, Virginia. After his time in the Service, John returned to Redgranite and worked for Don Mosier at the Skelgas Co.
About 1970 he moved to Ontario, Canada and worked for International Paper in the lumber division. He returned home after his dad became ill. In 1977 he began working at Alliance Laundry in die casting until he retired in 2005.
John really enjoyed his garden, hunting, fishing, and traveling out west. He is a member of the Wells-Krause V.F.W. Post 2925 of Berlin.
He is survived by his wife, Andree; his children, whom he loved deeply, Craig, Mike, Jeff (Sara), Tom (Missy), Michelle, John II, Shawn (Shirley), Jay, Jason (Anne), and Tricia (Leon). John is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his siblings, Mary Lou, Patrick (Carol), Bessie (Lee), Richard (Pam), David (Debbie), and Michael (Kathy). John is also survived by other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Amy, siblings, Donna, Tom, Barbara, Arlene, and Phillip.
John will be cremated. A Celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
