Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Mayer, age 81, of Redgranite, died peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at St. Paul Nursing Home in Kaukauna.
She was born March 9, 1945, in Kaukauna, WI, the daughter of Aloys and Irene Hammes Mayer. Kathy was a 1963 graduate of Winneconne High School and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Kathy was an elementary teacher for the Berlin School District at the Poy Sippi Grade School. In her retirement, Kathy was a member and volunteer at EAA in Oshkosh. She was very active in her Catholic church community and enjoyed going for long walks and breakfast with her friends at the local diner. Kathy will be remembered for her positive attitude and pleasant smile. She was a loving daughter, sibling, aunt and friend. Kathy was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro.
She is survived by her brother, Dan Mayer; sister, Corky Lee; sister-in-law, Shirley Mayer; beloved nieces and nephews, Mark (Brenda) Mayer, Rick (Jeanne) Mayer, John (Jane) Mayer, David (Mary Kay) Lee, Chris (Laura) Lee, Mary Lee, Brad (Brandy) Mayer and Lori Biedenbender; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Carlton Lee; niece, Pamela “Pam” Mayer Peters; and nephews, Patrick Mayer, Michael Jr. Mayer and Shorty Biedenbender.
A special thank you to St. Paul Elder Services and staff for the exceptional care and generosity. Their efforts to welcome and provide compassionate support during Kathy’s hospice care brought great comfort to both her and her family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
