Ladycats claw their way to 69-54 win over Lady Eagles

The Wild Rose Ladycats welcomed their neighbors from Almond for Jan. 14 conference action.

The Ladycats and Lady Eagles were evenly paced throughout the first half, but Wild Rose carried a narrow 29-21 lead going into the second half. With 40 more points added in the second half, the Ladycats were able to score a 69-54 conference win.

Ladycats were led by Cali Havlovitz with 33 points, including four 3-pointers and 15 of 17 free throws. Havlovitz also worked the court for 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Alyson Henschel added 25 points of her own, with three 3-pointers. Henschel also made 5 rebounds and steals. The other three scorers for Wild Rose were Emica Marquez with 7, and Cali Bahr and Harper Shipley each with 2.

The Lady Eagles top scorer was Mya Dernbach with 18 points, which included 4 of 9 free throws. M. Dernbach also recorded 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Aaliyah Newby was close with 17 points of her own, while also managing 6 rebounds and 4 assists and steals. Oakley Omernik put up 8 points while making an impressive 13 rebounds. Almond’s other scorers included Riya Ceballos with 5, Emalee Petrick with 3, Madalyn Potts with 2, and Kerstyn Clark with 1.

Wild Rose Ladycats currently rank fourth with a 3-3 record in the Central Wisconsin-South Conference. The Lady Eagles now rank third with a 4-1 record.
