Local fundraisers supports Coloma Park improvements

Posted

The Cabin Bar & Grill in Coloma recently held fundraisers for the city park playground project. A total of $3530 was raised via a poker run with a gift basket raffle held in August, a meat and booze raffle in November, and from private donations.
The Cabin has a donation jar that is always accepting donations for the park improvements during their Friday fish fries, bingo on Wednesdays, and breakfast Tuesday through Saturday. A future poker run fundraiser is planned for August 2026. Another Meat and Booze fundraising raffle will be held in February.
The Coloma playground splash pad will be installed in 2026, following Chicken Chew weekend. The pad requires a well-dug, underground plumbing system, and the floor of the pad to be poured before organizers can move on to the original playground improvements. An additional $250,000 is still needed to complete the entire park upgrade. The splash pad has the funds required to complete the project for local children and tourists to enjoy on our hot summer days.
Grants have been applied for and consequently turned down due to not meeting demographic requirements or awards going to larger projects in Waushara County. Ultimately, it will be the collective effort of local residents that secures the remaining funding necessary to enhance the park, making it an inviting destination for families, prospective homeowners, and visitors, while promoting Coloma as an ideal place to live and establish businesses.
The Coloma Park committee will have a community help pitch-in cleanup day scheduled in April and a Bingo evening fundraiser in the fall. Keep an eye out for the repainted parking meters throughout Coloma in the spring, where residents can contribute coins or scan a code for donating online via Venmo and GoFundMe. More information can be found on their respective Facebook pages.
