Lorraine Rose Brueggen, age 94, of Redgranite, formerly of Poy Sippi, died peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Preston Place.
She was born November 26, 1931, at home on the farm in Amherst, WI, the daughter of John and Gertrude King Adamski. Lorraine attended schools in Stevens Point. On August 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to LuVerne Brueggen at Church of the Gesu, a Catholic Jesuit Parish in Milwaukee.
Lorraine worked for Stevens Point Hospital, Globe Union factory and Sager Glove. She was very active in church (CCW & Trustee) and enjoyed volunteering at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center when she wintered in Arizona. Lorraine liked playing league golf, sewing, crocheting, embroidering, cooking, baking and crafting jewelry Christmas trees. Lorraine loved traveling, with some of her favorite trips being Ireland, Europe and a cruise to Hawaii. She was a snowbird in Surprise, AZ, for 30 years. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Poy Sippi.
She is survived by her seven children, Douglas (Linda) Brueggen, Cheryl (Kurt) Vergin, Kim Strand, Sandra (Mark) Hess, Ted Brueggen, Pamela (Robert) Alf and Paul Brueggen (fiancé, Amy McClelland); 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and other wonderful family and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, LuVerne, on May 30, 1998; daughter, Dawn Brueggen; two granddaughters, Sonya Hess and Abby Boivin; son-in-law, Kim Strand; and many cherished loved ones who welcomed her home.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark Catholic Church in Redgranite. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Father JP Nemali officiating. Inurnment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
