Rebecca Effa passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Frisco, Texas, at the age of 88.
Rebecca was born on May 18, 1938, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, the cherished only child of Jacob "Bud" and Ellen (Currier) Colligan. She grew up in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, where she excelled in school, made life-long friends and developed a lasting appreciation for education and economy. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, graduating with a degree in Home Economics.
On July 25, 1959, Rebecca married the love of her life, John Effa. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, fun and hospitality. As a dedicated homemaker, Rebecca poured her talents into caring for her family and entertaining friends. They briefly lived in Stevens Point and Madison, then moved to Tomah, Wisconsin where they raised their family. In Tomah Rebbecca was a substitute teacher for several years and was active in the community with the Republican Women, golf course, card clubs, book club and school events. After retirement Rebecca and John split their time between homes in Three Lakes, Wisconsin and Green Valley, Arizona.
Rebecca’s legacy lives on through her children: DeAnn, John Jr., and Steve. She was a proud grandmother to Evan, Paige, McKenna, and John, and an adoring great-grandmother to Connor. Her family was her greatest joy.
Beyond her devotion to her family, Rebecca was a woman of many creative talents. Her artistic endeavors included painting, jewelry making, and pottery. As a skilled seamstress, Rebecca designed home decor, clothing for her children, and elaborate Halloween costumes that will be treasured in family memories, her hands were rarely still.
Rebecca will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
