By Larry Redman Jr., Chapter 13 Riders 2nd Vice
AMVETS Post 13, Chapter 13 Riders, Sons of AMVETS, and Ladies Auxiliary had a busy 2025. The year kicked off in February, when the Auxiliary visited the schools in Waushara County to promote our patriotism and coloring campaign we do every year. Mary Woiak, Wendy Zens, and other ladies of the Auxiliary went to schools in Waushara County promoting our patriotism and a coloring contest, with the winners being awarded at our Chicken Barbeque in May.
The Chapter 13 Riders participated in multiple gun shows in January, February, March, and April, promoting their 10th annual ride and gun raffle that they had scheduled for September of 2025. Post 13 was busy putting together the Memorial Day Chicken Barbeque that the community looks forward to every year, down at the community park in Redgranite.
With spring hitting and bikes rolling, the riders hit the road in April to the Veterans Museum in Oshkosh, where they presented the Museum with a check for $1,000 for their continued efforts to promote Veterans. The Auxiliary collected the entries for the coloring contest and Patriotism
essay and started sorting through them all to pick the winners. The riders participated in a few rides supporting other veteran groups and were preparing for their ride in September.
May comes, and Post 13 and the Sons Squadron has the Chicken Barbeque and conducts the ceremony of the wreath laying with the Ladies Auxiliary for Memorial Day. Chapter 13 Riders and Department 1st Vice Larry Redmann Sr rode out to Washington DC, to participate in Rolling to Remember, where he escorted a Gold Star Mother for the Memorial Day Ride through Washington DC.
As summer hit in June, the Auxiliary helped with the farmers’ market. We teamed up with Wild Pines Coffee & Roasters for fundraisers throughout the year for our Sons, Riders, Auxiliary, and AMVETS. July was met with Brat Frys for the AMVETS and AMVET Riders, with help from both the Auxiliary and Sons. With the help of Toni from Wisconsin Back Yard and Sheds, we were able to host two brat fries and raise money to help some families in Waushara County. August was more Rides supporting other posts for the riders, a Brat Fry in Redgranite by the Quarry, and the Auxiliary is again working hard at the farmers’ market.
September was our 10th annual Bike Ride and Gun Raffle, in which we raised over $8,000 this year, thanks to the great turnout. We had 88 participants between bikes, trikes, and automobiles. A message of appreciation goes to the Bars that helped out for our stops, Murph’s in Neshkoro,
Johannes, Saw Dust City, and Jorgies. All those who participated had a great time and were met with wonderful weather for the day.
As we moved into fall, things started to slow down, and AMVETS Post 13 opened their doors to the public on Mondays and Thursdays, with a cribbage night on Thursday nights at the post clubhouse. The public is welcome to come; we are open from 6 to 10 p.m. on those days, serving from our bar.
We participated in the Redgranite Labor Day parade, and our honor guard led the parade route again this year. As we approached the Holidays, the Ladies Auxiliary adopted a Veteran family for Christmas, and this past week, we blessed that family with the gifts we had purchased
for them.
We have an upcoming meat raffle at Good Times Bar and Grill on Dec. 14, and that will round out the year for the AMVETS Post 13, Chapter 13 Riders, Auxiliary and Sons. Post 13/Chapter 13 President/Commander Robert Rhode, along with the Ladies Auxiliary President Mary Woiak and Sons Squadron Commander Manny Rodriguez wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope to see you all in the community soon and look forward to a great 2026.
