The Sixth Congressional District Convention featured a number of noteworthy candidates May 17, at LaSure’s Banquet Hall in Oshkosh. The Waushara Democrats joined delegates from the other ten counties of the district. Highlights of the day included remarks by the two Democratic CD6 candidates, Amanda Bell and Brad Smith. Bell and Smith will face off in the August 11 primary election; the nominee will advance for the seat currently held by Glenn Grothman.
Others speaking were candidates for Governor (Joel Brennan, David Crowley, Kelda Roys, Mandela Barnes, Sara Rodriguez, and Brett Hulsey) Secretary of State (JoCasta Zamarippa) and State Treasurer (Yee Leng Xiong and Dylan Helmenstine).
Uppermost concerns discussed were affordability, healthcare, and education. The prevailing goal was electing Democrats to ensure that government works for all, not the billionaire class.
The Primary Election will be held August 11. All candidates must submit a specified number of nomination signatures by June 1 to appear on the primary ballot.
