Suspect in custody for Possession of Child Pornography

Posted

On Feb. 12, the Wautoma Police Department executed a residential search warrant in the 300 block of Mt. Morris Avenue, in the City of Wautoma.

The investigation started with a cyber-tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and was investigated by our agencies Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Investigator. The investigation into the cyber-tip identified reported media depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM), commonly referred to as child pornography. As a result of the tip and a subsequent investigation, images depicting CSAM were discovered.

Devon DeLeon, 23, of Wautoma, WI, was taken into custody. DeLeon was interviewed and admitted to purchasing, downloading, and saving CSAM. DeLeon stated the CSAM included children as young as three months of age.

The Waushara County District Attorney charged DeLeon with Possession of Child Pornography (8 counts). DeLeon

appeared in court on Feb. 13, and bond was set at $5,000. The Wautoma Police Department was assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations and its Digital Forensics Unit.
