Tri-County graduate retires from US Air Force

Posted

Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Frederick (son of the late David Frederick and Lisa Marcott) is a 5th-generation descendant of the Frederick family. He grew up in Hancock, WI, and attended Tri-County High School.
Lieutenant Colonel Frederick enlisted in the United States Air Force only two weeks after graduating from Tri-County in June 2001. He would serve as an F-15C/D Eagle and F-22 Raptor Crew Chief.
Later, at the rank of Staff Sergeant, he commissioned through Officer Training School as a Second Lieutenant and was assigned to positions with increasing responsibility with a few key positions being Deputy Installation Commander and Director of Operations, 496th Air Base Squadron, Morón Air Base, Spain; Logistics Readiness Division Chief and Aircraft Maintenance and Munitions Division Chief, First Air Force, Tyndall AFB, FL; Chief of Plans and Programs and Chief of Supply Chain Management, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, FL; Director of Operations, 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Holloman AFB, NM; J4 Battle Captain, 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne Divisions, Combined Joint Force Land Component Command, Union III, Iraq.

Josh was inspired to serve from a young age. He grew up with the men of his family sharing their various military experiences with him. He would also enjoy attending air shows as a kid, which got him hooked on aviation. His childhood instilled in him an unmatched sense of purpose in protecting the US, as well as a sense of patriotism instilled by his father and grandfathers. These values would be carried with him throughout his career.

Josh learned never to forget where you come from, which inspired him to reach out to the Waushara Argus. Throughout his time in service, he also learned the importance of ensuring that the hard work and contributions of others are always recognized, and that anything is possible with the right mindset and experience to draw upon.
Josh is currently starting an executive coaching and strategic advisor business while simultaneously completing his dissertation to earn a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership and attending the University of Texas at Dallas Executive Coaching Program. He plans to travel, reconnect with friends and family, create his own hours, and enjoy the beach. He plans to remain in Panama City Beach, FL. Josh can be reached at www.linkedin.com/in/jdfcnc
