Union Telephone delivers 800 pounds of donations to Joseph’s Hope Food Pantry

Posted

Union Telephone of Plainfield recently made a donation of nearly 800 pounds of shelf-stable food to Joseph’s Hope Food Pantry. The company recently held a two-month-long drawing for prizes, which encouraged customers to donate canned goods. The response was fantastic, with over 100 people bringing in holiday meals to provide security for local families. This was Union’s fourth year of working with the pantry over the holidays.
Union Telephone is also participating with local businesses in an upcoming Christmas giveaway. More information on that can be found on their Facebook page.
The pantry welcomes all donations of shelf-stable food, including peanut butter and jelly, Hamburger Helper, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, and boxed cereal. Another area of consideration if anyone would like to donate, the pantry is currently in need of a shop vacuum and replacements of wooden shelves with wire ones. Cash donations always go toward food purchases.
The next pantry distribution date is set for Dec. 19.
Ron stated, “Perhaps because of the SNAP program being halted, we saw a 30% increase in the number of citizens needing a little bit of help. The pantry last served nearly 125 families. We hope to make the Christmas holiday a bit easier for families that need us.”
