Jason Anderson, 2024 Citizen of the Year, presented the 2025 Citizen of the Year to Becky and Tim Borud. The Borud’s are foster parents in Waushara County and have been for the past 22 years, taking in dozens and dozens of kids. Tim Borud said. “It is the incredible support system in our community that really deserves the award. We are so appreciative of so many people who have lifted us up as a family. There are literally hundreds, far too many to name.”.Tim mentioned first and foremost, Many Boersma, who has dedicated his life to our family and knows our daily struggles on a level no one else can. Becky’s mom, Grandma Dee, who can speak truth to our kids when no one else seems to be able to. He also said the Waushara County Sheriff’s Department and Wautoma Police Department provides support during the family’s toughest of times. He added the Waushara Community Church community, the Wautoma Area School District, including teachers and Administration, their Amish neighbors, and God, who has given them a task and the support systems for them to do it to the best of their ability.
Christina Van Eyck, Alpine Nutrition, 2024 Business Person of the Year, presented the 2025 Business Person of the Year to Victor Magnus, Rural Insurance, Wautoma. Magnus said he loved having a business in Waushara County and loves giving back to Waushara County by participating in activities and promotions.
The 2025 Non-Profit Achievement Award was presented by the 2024 winner, Waushara County Farm Bureau and Community Foundation of Central WI. This year’s award went to Royal Arch Masons of Wautoma. The Community Foundation of Central WI, represented by Jennifer Riggenbach, Chief Executive Officer, and Sarah Ross, Director of Community Leadership, presented Adam Rigden and Victor Magnus of the Freemasons with a $250 check for their Non-Profit Achievement Award. The Royal Arch Masons of Wautoma have served their community and their membership with many activities, including evening suppers, the annual Father’s Day Car Show, pumpkin carving, and so much more.
Waushara Area Chamber Board of Directors includes: Kristin Lambrecht (Secretary), Molly Dahlke (President), Tyler Weston (newly elected) Lori Alguire, Executive Director, Tracy Young (Treasurer), Cindy Scheer, Misty Holzman (Vice President). Not pictured are newly elected directors, including Ashley Huffman and Travis Collins.
Lori Alguire, Executive Director of the Waushara Area Chamber, addressed the year of growth, connection, and collaboration. From supporting local businesses to launching new initiatives that strengthen our community, the Chamber’s work is only possible because of the members, volunteers, and partners who bring their energy, ideas, and passion to every project.
