Sheriff Wally Zuehlke issued the following statement after officers discovered a deceased individual during a welfare check.
On March 8, around 7:45 p.m., the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Town of Mount Morris for a welfare check. Upon arrival, a female was located deceased by Deputies.
Since this initial statement, the suspect in connection with the case was found and arrested in Ogden, Utah, over the weekend. Ogden Police Department announced that 36-year-old Randy Jenks was arrested on Sunday, March 8, following a warrant issued by Waushara County.
Ogden police received word that Jenks was located inside a home in the area. The department was taken into custody and was booked into the Weber County Jail after coordination with police in Wisconsin.
A police affidavit states that Jenks was living with his grandmother in Mount Morris, who was the individual found stabbed during a wellness check conducted by Waushara County officers. The affidavit continued, stating that a family member believed Jenks traveled to Ogden following a phone call to his aunt in the area where he answered the phone. Police made contact with Jenks’ aunt, who informed police that he was at her house.
Jenks admitted to Ogden officers that he had stabbed him after she “pushed him too far,” as stated in the affidavit.
The investigation remains ongoing. Jenks is accused of first-degree intentional homicide.
