Waushara County to be featured on Discover Wisconsin April 11

Posted

The Wisconsin Tourism Council, along with the Waushara Chamber of Commerce, local business owners, and many residents, came together to help with Discover Wisconsin’s filming of Waushara County and were invited to the premiere of Discover Wisconsin - Waushara County at the Waushara County Courthouse last week. The footage showcases the county as a destination for vacations, day trips, and as a welcome place to reside. Tourism tax dollars from the room tax funded the entire project.
The segment took many days and hours of filming, which has been edited into a 20-minute segment. It is scheduled to be aired on Saturday, April 11 – check your local programming for more information. In addition to this segment, which will air again at a later date, the county will have access to YouTube, blogs, Facebook, and many other forms of media produced by Discover Wisconsin. Discover WI will also be filming upcoming events in the county to be featured on YouTube and more.
More than 100 people were on hand for the Discover Wisconsin Premiere at the Waushara County Government Center, Wautoma, on March 27. Waushara County Administrator, Megan Kapp, viewed the segment prior to the premiere and said she felt it gives, “Community feeling woven throughout – the best in small town pride and natural beauty.”
Mark VandeCastle, Waushara Tourism Council, said he was very impressed with the drone shots. “Seeing Waushara County events, recreation, and scenery from the sky was just spectacular,” said VandeCastle.
Discover Wisconsin Producer Adam Reed said he believes that people make it an experience, and Waushara County had some of the best people to make a wonderful segment. He added that in all his years of filming, he had never had production interrupted by so much wildlife.

Discover Wisconsin Co-Host Eric Paulsen said fly fishing, Wild Rose Old Fashioned Fest, the variety of merchandise in downtown Wautoma shops, golf, Flyte Family Farm, Silvercryst, and Milty Wilty were parts of the county that stood out to him. Paulsen said he knew of our area but had never taken the time to explore the county’s nooks and crannies.
Lisa Meier, Destination Marketing Manager, said working with Waushara County was a pleasure and told the group about the media residents and visitors will have access to for years to come. The TV segment is just a portion of the Discover Wisconsin package featuring Waushara County and all it has to offer. She also noted the segment will remain on YouTube you miss the TV programming.
Discover Wisconsin – Waushara County – is divided into four categories: family, ladies weekend, men’s weekend, and couples weekend. You will recognize the citizens and businesses featured in this program – many will know the Pine River and all it offers to trout fishermen throughout the state. The drone shots of the Wild Rose Car Show and from Mt. Morris Hills Park are spectacular.
To those wondering if the county room tax is making a difference, Discover Wisconsin - Waushara County is another way to show how tourism dollars are invested. The segment will showcase what we enjoy each and every day, while promoting tourism in Waushara County.
