The following statement was released in response to a potential threat to Wild Rose High School by the School District of Wild Rose, Wild Rose Police Department, Waushara County Sheriff’s Department, and Waushara County Emergency Management:
Dear Wild Rose Families,
It came to our attention the morning of Nov. 3 at 8 a.m. that a possible threat was directed at Wild Rose High School. We immediately contacted Wild Rose Village Police Chief Nate Klapoetke. The Wild Rose Police Department immediately requested assistance from surrounding law enforcement agencies. Members of the Waushara County Sheriff's Office, Wautoma Police Department, Plainfield Police Department, Waushara County Emergency Management, Wild Rose Fire Department, and Waushara County EMS responded immediately.
The information that was brought to our attention was a social media post that after investigation was determined to not be directed towards the Wild Rose School District. The investigation revealed that another law enforcement agency outside our County had already addressed this threat from several days ago, last week. There was never any mention specific to any school in Waushara County.
Waushara County investigators have spoken with the outside law enforcement agency and we have determined there are no threats to any School District in Waushara County. There was a swift, coordinated response by all partners to ensure the safety of our students, staff, school, and community.
There will be a continued law enforcement presence today at our School District. If you have questions, please call the District Office and direct those to Craig Hayes, District Administrator at (920) 622-4201.
