Missing Wautoma child located following Amber Alert

Posted

On April 3, Wisconsin Department of Corrections reported that a sex offender on supervised released, Joseph Nicpon, removed his GPS tracking bracelet in Adams County WI. This is being investigated by the Adams County Sheriff's Department. Nicpon was released from prison on 03/31/26 reference charges of Incest with a Child and Sexual Assault. Wautoma Police later learned that Betty Lentz took her daughter, Irene Lentz, to meet with Nicpon out of the area. Nicpon is prohibited from contact with Irene and Betty. Additional information was received that the three may have fled the state. As a result, Waushara County Child Protective Services made a missing/endangered persons report with Wautoma Police for Irene and an Amber Alert was issued.

On April 4, the missing/endangered child was located by Nebraska State Patrol. Joseph Nicpon is in custody and the amber alert was canceled.

The Wautoma Police Department and Adams County Sheriff were assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation, WI Department of Corrections, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshall’s Service, Wild Rose Police Department, Waushara County Sheriff, Waushara Child Protective Services, Nebraska State Patrol and the Sauk County Sheriff. Thank you to everyone that has reached out with any tips on the whereabouts of the missing child. Thanks again to all the different entities and the community who came together as a team to find this child.
