The Wautoma Hornets have two wrestlers who punched their tickets to the state wrestling tournament, with unwavering support from their coaches and teammates every step of the way.
Brynlee Vaughan (152 pounds) and Laynie Vaughan (165 pounds) will represent Wautoma at the state level after battling through tough competition at Sectionals to secure their spots. The duo showcased determination, skill, and resilience on the mat, earning the opportunity to compete among Wisconsin’s best.
Also competing was Nerieda Sauceda at 100 pounds, who turned in an excellent performance. While she did not advance to state, Sauceda demonstrated grit and sportsmanship, contributing to a strong overall showing for Wautoma.
The Wautoma/Wild Rose Girls Team was there supporting them all on. Brynlee Vaughan stated “It was fun having teammates cheering us on throughout the night, it created an uplifting and heartwarming atmosphere.”
Laynie Vaughan said “Its our favorite time of the year and I’m excited to be doing all of it with my sister by my side.”
The state wrestling tournament begins Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Kohl Center in Madison. Fans who can’t attend in person can catch all the action via livestream at wiaa.com
